Vinted Members Share Displeasure Over Sizing Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has revised its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Backlash
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to review their products and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Modifications
Earlier, the sizes had both one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Manual Updates
A different user, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: previously, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
